Queer Voices was created in September, 2020 in order to amplify the stories and experiences of LGBTQ people at Rowan University through portraits and interviews of students, faculty, and alumni. The objective of the project is to increase visibility of the LGBTQ community, therefore creating a more accepting and welcoming presence on campus.
Participation in the project includes a short interview and a portrait photograph taken after the interview. The audio is then transcribed into written format, and paired with the portrait when posted. Queer Voices is posted on Instagram @queer_voices with more opportunities to showcase the work in development. There will be more information to come about how and where the series will be displayed. Queer Voices is created by Emerson Harman (they/them), a Biomedical Art and Visualization major at Rowan.
